Orbotech's Q1 Profit Down as Costs Offset Sales Print E-mail

YAVNE, ISRAEL - Orbotech has reported that its Q1 profits fell 34%.

Citing higher costs and expenses that offset revenue, the company reported that net income for the quarter ending March 31 fell to $3.7 million, as compared with $5.6 million year-over-year.

The company suggested that the weaker dollar was a partial reason for the profit loss.

However, total company revenue rose to $100.5 million from $86.1 million, and sales of equipment related to the PCB industry rose to $8.1 million, as compared with $6.8 million a year earlier.
